The Collie

The Rough Collie is known for its beautiful appearance and gentle nature. One of its most striking features is its long, rich coat with a slightly rough texture, which helps protect the dog from wind and weather while also keeping it warm. Collies come in four different colors: gold sable, dark sable, tricolor, and blue merle. No matter the color, every Collie has its own special beauty and charm.

The breed originally comes from Scotland, where it was used for herding sheep and cattle. Thanks to its intelligence and willingness to learn, the Collie became an excellent working dog that can handle complex tasks and truly enjoys working closely with people. Its loyalty and natural protective instinct also make it a wonderful family companion.
Early socialization is especially important for a Collie. Regular experiences with different environments, people, and other animals from a young age help these dogs grow into balanced and confident companions. They are known for getting along very well with children and often form a particularly close bond with their family.
Like every breed, regular grooming and general care are essential and should be introduced from puppy age. This includes combing and brushing, bathing when needed, paw and nail care, ear cleaning, and dental care. These routines also help strengthen the bond between dog and owner and teach the dog to stay calm and relaxed even in uncomfortable situations, such as visits to the vet or grooming salon.
Collies also need regular physical activity and mental stimulation. Walks, agility training, playtime, training sessions, and obedience exercises are important to keep them happy, healthy, and balanced.
Overall, the Collie is a versatile and loving breed that shines in many different roles — from loyal family companion to dedicated working dog. This is what makes the Collie such a valued friend and companion in every stage of life.
